The 2017 season was a disaster for all the usual suspects: ESPN, ESPN2, the NFL, the MLB and MLB Network.

ESPN2 and the MLB Network were the only ones to have enough viewers to break even and make the playoffs.

But that was mostly because of a weak network schedule that didn’t allow for the quality of shows that could compete with ESPN, including The Undefeated, Hard Knocks and the highly anticipated Undefeated: The Rise and Fall of Malcolm Gladwell.
