The two leaders are expected to hold a meeting Wednesday in Honolulu as they work to finalize a sweeping new trade deal.
The two men have previously met privately with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, but Trump has said he will only meet with leaders from China, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Biden has not met with either of the leaders in person since May.
Biden will hold meetings in Taiwan and China before heading to Japan.
Biden is also expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday in the first formal meeting of the two leaders in more than a decade.
The meeting comes as Biden’s administration is struggling to sell a sweeping trade deal with China, which has imposed harsh tariffs on American exports.
The administration has said the deal will help U.S. manufacturers and jobs by opening up markets for U.K. exports and giving U.N. members the chance to negotiate an alternative trade deal for the Pacific Rim nation.
