The perfect breakfast bread, brunch, or lunch, it pairs perfectly with a sweet or savory treat.

The simple, sweet dough is topped with a little banana, crunchy pecans, fresh whipped cream, and a sprinkle of sea salt.

Ingredients 1 1/2 cups flour 2 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 3 eggs 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1/5 cup granular Splenda, or any other sweetener (optional) 3 large ripe bananas, peeled and cut into small cubes 1/6 cup unsweetened applesauce 2 cups water 1/7 cup honey 1/1 cup unscented baking powder 3 tablespoons melted butter, melted 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1/16 teaspoon ground ginger, or to taste (optional, to taste) Directions Preheat oven to 350°F.

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter, eggs, and granulated Splenda until light and fluffy.

Add the bananas and mix until well blended.

Add in the applesauces, water, honey, and sugar mixture, and mix just until combined.

Add vanilla, and stir until combined and combined.

Fold in the melted butter and ground cloves.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from the oven and cooling on a wire rack.

Recipe Notes You can substitute plain flour for the Splenda or use powdered sugar, but I found that it tasted best.

You can use any combination of sugars and nuts you like.

I added 1/9 teaspoon salt and 1/12 teaspoon ground pepper to my recipe.

You may also add a teaspoon of melted butter to the mixture.

I also substituted applesauced fruit for bananas in the recipe, but if you don’t like applesaucing, you can substitute honey for the sugar in this recipe.

I think it adds a little sweetness, but you can also omit this step if you want.
